Nearly four years ago, I embarked on a journey to Bangladesh. My goal: to impart some knowledge about science to young women from South and Southeast Asia.
Right now, I’m starting to pack to head back to Bangladesh (Thailand, India, and Singapore) to see those same young women– who I hope still think science is cool!– graduate from the Asian University for Women. It’s an incredibly exciting time for them, and I’m so happy that Insha’Allah, as they say in Bangladesh, I will be there for the big day.
To be honest, I’m a little bit nervous to be traveling to Bangladesh because there is a bit more upheaval than there was in 2009, but am incredibly excited to see “my” students graduate, and can’t wait to see the women they’ve become and hear what they’ll be doing next. And to see my former colleagues and friends!
I’ll try to update my adventures here every day so my mom knows I’m doing okay 🙂 (Hi mom!)
